Fort Hood is a US Army base named after a man named John Bell Hood. Hood was a Confederate soldier that viewed black people as an inferior race. We, as the United States of America, should not be naming national buildings to men who discriminated against people by race or people who have betrayed our country and fighting in an army that killed many Americans in America's bloodiest war. Instead we would like to honor an American who served the United States. We would like to honor someone that made a sacrifice to the United States such as Vanessa Guillen. Vanessa was a soldier at Fort Hood that was brutally murdered while serving the US. We should honor her by renaming the base she was at after her and not someone who betrayed the United States and hated people based on the color of their skin.
