Help LeShun Come Home!
Why this petition matters
I'm creating this petition on behalf on my fiance, LeShun Smith. LeShun was convicted at the age of 19 and was sentenced to 36 years in prison with the eligibility of parole 33 years in. He has currently served 21 of them. What separates him from the rest to be given the chance for early release by parole, is that in those 21 years, he has never been in trouble. He has taken full advantage of and exceeded all possible educational programs allowed to him. He was recently selected among the very few to be apart of an offender council committee. Within that committee, he will be working with the administration to introduce new programs aimed at behavioral change and giving people purpose, giving them hope. A person like this has served what prison was designed for, rehabilitation. He was a child at the time of his conviction. Now, he is very well educated man that wants to give back to society what he feels he took. LeShun is ready to be an example to the youth and the community by showing them how life can be taken away with immature mistakes. Unrecognized, he is a mentor. I now ask that you allow him to continue his mission freely. I ask that you allow him to be able to find happiness through love, life, and family. Please grant him the opportunity to show the world the humble man he has become.
Thank you,
Shareka N.
