Why this petition matters

Started by Emily Njiriri

People in universities and colleges tend to have difficulties moving around the school...the schools are mostly tall buildings and the stairs many ,for them to get to there classes....this is not only a challenge but an indication that the disabled are not considered in the institutions..

Toilets are for the abled only. ...in most cases the disabled children tend to wait until when they are at their premises to relieve themselves   is this fair? Are they not humans?don't they deserve a comfortable environment like everyone else ? It's time we speak for them and act wisely.

We all say disability is not inability ...it has become just a saying ...we give them opportunities yes but are they comfortable in there work areas the various institutions ....the disabled youth are they able to learn effectively in the colleges and universities of their dream...it pains to see them struggling at the stairs especially in schools trying to get to class ...for them to use the toilets it's a hard nut to crack for them .what many schools say as a way of defending themselves is "we have no enough space, we lack funds, they are not many disabled children in my school"the reason they are not so many disabled children is because they know the environment is not conducive for them to learn.... speaking of space we have room to build kitchen and restaurants for the school to get returns but having ramps in schools is a "burden". Funds if allocated do we see any changes no....the disabled are our families sisters brothers uncle's friends*WE ARE ONE*. They too are among the billions of people that make up our country ....it's time we rise up say no to discrimination and the saying disability is not inability be not taken as a phrase but a platform to enable the disabled
