In this day and age, there is no need or excuse for violent incidents involving police to remain in the dark. We live in a society that demands transparency, yet one of the most crucial parts of our society continues to work out of view and without accountability. For years the public has asked for police to be fitted with bodycams, and we are told time and time again that it's not in the budget- that is a lie.

With some simple research and calculations, I have done the math on both an economical and state-of-the-art option for bodycams for ALL active police officers in both the United States and Canada.. and the numbers are astounding.

-For all of Canada's police to be supplied with bodycams: between 0.058%~ and 0.27%~ of the annual federal police budget.

-For all of America's police to be supplied with bodycams: between 0.088%~ and .41%~ of the annual federal police budget.

At a mere fraction of Canada and America's annual Federal Police budget, ALL active officers could be supplied with a bodycam. In fact, some companies have OFFERED their cameras to police forces, yet they still do not wear them:

This is not right. Police, as with lawmakers, and politicians are CIVIL SERVANTS. They exist to protect and serve society, yet our demands for a better world with more transparency and accountability fall flat. This is unacceptable.

There are, absolutely, good police officers out there. Personally I would argue the majority. The good have no need to worry ... It is those who are corrupt, who behave inappropriately, cause harm and death that warrant such a measure to take place. CIVILIANS HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE WHETHER POLICE WEAR BODYCAMS. IT IS TIME! IT MUST BECOME LAW FOR ALL ACTIVE POLICE OFFICERS TO WEAR A BODYCAM AND RECORD ANY/ALL RESPONSES TO PUBLIC.
