  • Many of you know that Farmers of India have been doing peaceful protest against the three farmers bills implemented  and two ordinances pending by the  Government of India. The farmers protest has been stopped with barricades, in some places there have been 3-5 layers of barricades including 15 feet trenches dug on the National highway, their vehicles damaged, tear gas thrown at them to prevent them from reaching Delhi. Water cannons have been used. They are being treated in the most inhumane way possible. Their human rights and democratic rights are being violated. Their source of income is being forcefully given to industrialists. For the last two months farmers were protesting in their own States, but did not receive any positive results. In this it is not only farmers from State of Punjab but also from others States including but not limited to Haryana,Rajasthan,U.P. Many of us in Canada belong to these farming families yet we feel helpless sitting thousands of miles away. We need the assistance of our governments to help our farming brothers and sisters get their rights, and to be treated with dignity and respect. If these laws are not changed many farmers will go further into poverty and suicide rate will further increase. This affects each and everyone of us as many of us are end users of products such rice, lentils, wheat, spices produced by these farmers. PLEASE NOTE DONATIONS MADE THROUGH CHANGE.ORG DO NOT GO TO FARMERS,SO IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MAKE DONATIONS THAT GO DIRECTLY TO THE INDIAN FARMERS  THEY SHOULD BE MADE TO AN ORGANIZATION ALREADY VOLUNTEERING ON THE GROUND AT THE PROTEST SITES.
