I have long respected Ruffwear as a brand as a dog trainer, assistance dog handler, dog sport competitor, stunt dog performer, and also as an owner of canine actor and model.

Why?

Because they seem to be relatively progressive with the dog harnesses they sell - all are non tightening, durable, well fitting, easy to clean and have front/back clips.

I recommend their harnesses on a daily basis to colleagues and students working in the above areas. 

Until today. 

Today I found out they could be soon launching a product called the 'Heeler' harness that tightens on the back end of the dog around a very sensitive area. 

Ruffwear say they have consulted with trainers and vets, but we can't deny this will work because it will rely on inflicting physical pain to the dogs wearing it, which can cause physical issues as well as potentially dangerous behaviour suppression. 

Ruffwear, please continue being a leader in progressive equipment and stop the launch of this product NOW. 

I know its a big ask, but sometimes it takes guts to backtrack and learn from this mistake. 

Please. Do the right thing!
