WHAT IS THE BLACK BILL OF RIGHTS?

Via legal rules such as the Law Enforcement Officer Bill of Rights Act, police union contracts, and Qualified Immunity the Police are legally, politically, and culturally insulated from consequences for violating the rights of the people whom they have sworn to serve. Cited by decision-makers as the obstacles to justice in officer-involved shootings and killings, the leniencies that exist in these contracts/law deny Black people their constitutional rights and protections. 

The Black Bill of Rights is a living roadmap that targets these leniencies and seeks reforms that grant the community the same rights as the police in interactions with them. Designed to serve as a template in all areas where systemic racism has led to persistent injustice, on behalf of the Black Citizens of this nation, we the undersigned petition Vice President Kamala Harris to publicly support and endorse the Black Bill of Rights.
