I’ve recently discovered that Shrek is no longer available on Netflix. Instead, they have “Shrek Swamp Stories” and “Shrek: The Musical", neither of which even compare to the original Shrek movie. Shrek has been a classic family movie since it’s release in 2001 and I still watch it every now and then, but it’s pretty hard now since it’s no longer available on Netflix. It is the perfect movie for people of all ages (young children, tweens, teens, young adults and parents). It’s pretty shocking to see that Netflix decided to remove it especially since it has recently become very popular again with teens and young adults. Netflix couldn't even leave us with any of the "Shrek" movie sequels. There are also young parents now who grew up watching this movie and have made it their child's favorite movie to watch. In addition to removing Shrek, Netflix has also removed "Trolls" and "Moana"; leaving young children with nothing good to watch (except for maybe Incredibles 2, but they don't have the original Incredibles on Netflix either). Let's also not forget that Shrek is an extraordinary story in itself. How many other movies are there on Netflix that tells the tale of a grumpy ogre and a hilarious donkey on a mission to save a princess (WHO IS ALSO SECRETLY AN OGRE)? None. There are none. Sure, there's the other TV shows and the musical with the same characters... but none of them can tell the story quite like the way this movie does. Not only is Shrek perfectly entertaining for the whole family, but this movie also sends a different message and experience to children than you would find in any other movie. It's not your typical "Disney Princess" movie with a pretty princess and a hot prince. This film's main characters are not perfect and are discriminated against by the palace's people. This movie is the perfect example of teaching children not to judge a book by its cover, and that inner beauty is what matters. You don't get that message with a family comedy anywhere else, folks. In conclusion, Shrek is the most perfect family movie and it cannot be replaced.
