Since staying at home orders due to COVD-19, the Lynwood City Council has been holding meetings strictly via teleconference. Other cities have also had to transition to remote work, but they have been able to hold meetings via  video live streams (Zoom, Youtube, Facebook Live, etc.) Other cities within LA county have also begun to hold in-person city council meetings with strict social distancing rules and masks requirements. LYRC demands that the Lynwood City Council follow suit. It is unacceptable how inaccessible these meetings are for residents.  By discouraging civic engagement, the Lynwood City council has been able to pass resolutions and city orders without the consent of residents. Sign this petition to let Mayor Aide Castro and the rest of the City Council know that we will no longer tolerate the lack of transparency from their part as city officials. We demand these meetings to be held via a video conference and have a better alternative for residents who do not have access to internet services. There are various alternatives the City Council can explore while also enforcing strict social distancing rules. Sign the petition and share it widely!

"Desde órdenes de quedarnos  en casa debido a COVD-19, el Concejo Municipal de Lynwood ha celebrado reuniones estrictamente por teleconferencia. Otras ciudades también han tenido que pasar al trabajo remoto, pero han podido celebrar reuniones a través de transmisiones en vivo de video (Zoom, Youtube, Facebook Live, etc.) LYRC exige que el Ayuntamiento de Lynwood haga lo mismo. Es inaceptable cuán inaccesibles son estas reuniones para los residentes. Al desalentar el compromiso cívico, el Ayuntamiento de Lynwood ha podido aprobar resoluciones y órdenes de la ciudad sin el consentimiento de residentes. Firme esta petición para informar al Alcalde Aide Castro y al resto del Consejo de la Ciudad que ya no toleraremos la falta de transparencia de su parte como funcionarios de la ciudad.
