North Lanarkshire Council intend to introduce parking charges at both car parks for Greenfaulds Station Cumbernauld. This will cause significant safety issues for children attending Woodlands Primary School and Nursery and Glencryan School which are positioned next to and across from the station. Given the lack of safe parking for either of these schools many parents currently use the station car park to minimise traffic from parking along the main road. The introduction of parking charges will force parents to park along the main road which is already dangerous and chaotic at school drop off/pick up times. 

Greenfaulds Station has two car parks, the larger car park is rarely used and often empty which means there will be little economic benefit to introducing parking charges however will deter the local community from using the train line. The line is already poorly used and this will further risk the loss of this station. Given the environmental benefit of public transport this will be both environmentally and economically detrimental to the local community. 

For the safety of our children, the economic benefit of our community and the environmental benefit we need, we demand the council permanently scrap the plan to introduce parking charges at Greenfaulds Station and keep our children safe.
