Why this petition matters

Started by Catherine Musgrove

In February 2019, 27-year-old Rosie Darbyshire was murdered by her partner Ben Topping.

Shortly before her death, she applied to police for a disclosure under Clare's Law to see whether Topping had a violent past.

Sadly, Rosie didn't receive any information back before she was killed.

Now Rosie's family and the Lancashire Post are calling on the Home Office to review Clare's Law.

We would like to see:

- A reduction in the 35-day timescale for applications to be resolved

- A 48-hour callback from the police to update the applicant on the process after first contact

- A national database containing details of people charged with or convicted of violent offences

- A publicity campaign on what Clare's Law is and how to apply
