Animal poaching occurs when wildlife poachers illegally hunt and kill animals for their body parts. Animals are killed when poachers believe they possess something valuable. Animals are being killed for things such as tusks, horns, fins, and fur. 

Animal poaching is a huge problem that happens all across the world. According to Harvard University, about 30,000 species per year are being driven to extinction due to poaching. The poaching industry makes billions of dollars per year. Miami is a big hub for illegal wildlife trade, where ports allow companies to bring in animal products.
