Why this petition matters

Started by Jenny Morris

Many of you local to Cambridge will know Jonjo and his tireless work, enthusiasm and kindness as a Big Issue seller outside Sainsbury's in the city centre. For over two years he has been preparing to set up his own business as 'Cambridge Coffee', a unique mobile coffee enterprise. He has crowdfunded for investment, bought, equipped and painted a coffee trike, installed barista-level coffee machines and carried out all the relevant safety checks and certifications. However, at this final hurdle, Cambridge City Council are refusing to even consider his application for a street trader's license. This has not been an out-of-the-blue request but he has been in discussions with members of the council for a couple of years. However, he is now only receiving automated replies which refuse to consider the application. Please sign this petition to urge the council to accept his application to trade in the city centre and support a budding new local business. As a resident of the city centre for five years, we believe that Jonjo deserves this chance to set up as an independent trader and that he will be a credit to the city.
