Why this petition matters

Started by Matt Barnes

Small fitness centers and health clubs in Indiana should be considered essential. During times of the pandemic, peoples mental and physical health often goes forgotten. Many people use the gym as therapy or as a way to improve their health. Many small gyms in Indiana often have services for senior citizens to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

We believe Governor Eric Holcomb should allow small gyms in Indiana to open up with restrictions and guidelines. Many family owned gyms rely on their memberships to pay bills and to keep the facility open. If we can open the gyms with a head count restriction or on a schedule appointment only basis we can continue to operate. Limiting head count and going to scheduled only visits can ensure the gyms are still staying on top of cleaning and sanitizing, while allowing people to stay healthy. Additional steps we could take would be to ask sick people to not attend, and for no children to be in the facility.

Governor Holcomb, please consider small gyms and small health clubs an essential business in Indiana. Lets put Hoosiers health in the forefront and lets get people back into the gym.
