Us licensed Barbers and Cosmetologists are professionals and know sanitation very well which is 30% of our test that we spend 1500 hours in school for and must take a test in order to obtain a professional license. We are in the same field as a medical professional and must study physics. We’ve been left behind from what we have put our time and effort into becoming professionals and seem to be put on the back burner instead of working with us to make guidelines to allow us to open our businesses along with other professionals that share similar studies in school. It’s difficult to understand how other businesses are allowed to open while their employees don’t know what we payed to learn regarding sanitation procedures. How is it that big retail stores can open, even if having a customer limit, there’s no way of controlling crowds or to actually make everyone abide with social distancing guidelines. Whereas at a Barber Shop, Beauty Salon, Tattoo Parlor etc... we have the ability to work by appointment ONLY. Meaning we can work on just one person ensure social distancing amongst everyone in the building and have enough time in between to sanitize. Something we’ve been practicing from the start. Please help us get back to our careers in doing what we love at the same time doing it safely. Let’s maintain our professional image and continue to follow the sanitation protocols we’ve known from the start. 

Guidelines:

• Keep 6 feet from each other
• Employee and customer must wear face mask at all times once inside the facility 
• Employee must wear new gloves after every customer 
• One customer per employee, no one in waiting area
• Sanitize clippers as usual after every client with EPA approved products
• Sanitize chair and cape with epa approved product before each customer 
• No shaking hands
• No sick employees or customers
• Sanitize hands before entering the building and after disposing gloves
