Anyone who lives in Armstrong or the surrounding areas knows how blessed we are to live in this beautiful place. One place , specifically, are the crown areas surrounding Rose Swanson Park. The area is filled with trails for all, be it hikers, horseback riders, dog owners, and mountain bikers. There is an abundance of wildlife as well as natural water holes and small creeks. The forest scenery is magnificent. It is a truly magical place. I have even seen a child's birthday party take place in the area.

The actual Rose Swanson Park is often full, especially during the "covid" world we currently live in. Alot of people now turn to the crown land surrounding the park for their outdoor activities. I myself venture up there a minimum of 4 or 5 times a week either with my dogs, horses or family members of all ages. Not a day goes by when I don't see another person or group on the trails. Even in the winter months these trails are widely used by cross country skiers and on snowshoes. Recently, although there is no signage to confirm, I have been made aware that the area is going to be logged and destroyed.

There seems to be some controversy as to whether this area is protected or not. Some feel at one time it was. Whatever the case, it needs to be saved from a fate of clear cutting.  It is a local treasure that is well used by the community . It should be saved and made available to the whole community to enjoy now and for many years to come. Over the last 7 months I have noticed there are more and more people going there on a daily. It is one of the last areas where the community can go and escape the craziness of life and be able to social distance at the same time.

Please join me trying to save this wonderful land from being logged and destroyed. Help protect it so that future generations can enjoy it as much as those before us did. If it is not saved from logging Rose Swanson Park will become overflowed more than it already is. These crown areas are a treasure and should be treated as such.
