On the stretch of beach leading up to the Margate Winter Gardens there is a seriously dangerous pool created when the tide goes out. To an onlooker or a child it looks like a shallow pool but it is much deeper. Last summer my 1.5 yr old who can’t yet swim made a run for it thinking it was a puddle like most of the others on the beach left by the tide. I was walking after him but as he entered the pool he disappeared in the water. I had to run in and drag him out. I’m not the first mother this has happened to in this specific pool on this part of the beach. There was an article written in the Isle of Thanet news not long after it happened to us, about another mother it happened to. 
The council have put up a sign but it’s only leading down to the beach and not right by the offending pool, so really not a good warning. This pool needs filling in or fencing off. One day a child will not be as lucky as mine. Please sign this petition getting the council to actually do something about this pool that could save a child’s life!
