Why this petition matters

Started by Simpson Millar

The Government announced from the 8th July there will be a cut to Stamp Duty.  This has been a bitter blow to those who finalised their move since the start of Lockdown in March.

Sarah Ryan from Simpson Millar is calling for the changes to be backdated to help those who have missed out.

The people affected include Key Workers desperate to move whilst also working on the front line, those needing to downsize because they were struggling financially and people who continued to buy or sell property to make sure the chain they were in didn’t collapse.  The change will reportedly save the average house buyer £4,500.

Sarah has written an Open Letter to Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick calling for the change to be backdated.

We hope that this petition will show the public’s support and help make this change happen.
