ATATURK STATUE IN FLORIDA
ATATURK STATUE IN FLORIDA
Why this petition matters
Being Turkish community of South East Florida, we are lacking a statue of Ataturk, the founder father of modern Turkey. It will be an ultimate task of Turkish American community to actualize this task. As known, Ataturk was honored as the world leader by UNESCO in 1981 on the anniversary of his 100th birthday. He is the first leader who fought against colonialism and imperialism in between 1919- 1923 and founded a secular Republic of Turkey from the ashes of Ottoman Empire. He actualized series of revolutions such as script , dress code, secularism, parliamentary democracy, women rights, and much more.
We will be pleased if Mayor Dean J. Trantalis allocates the small green area at the junction of NE 33rd Ave and NE 30th Street, for this purpose.
