I'm starting this petition because it's apparent from the comments on the petition to remove Dean Sullivan at https://www.change.org/p/harvard-administration-students-for-the-removal-of-winthrop-dean-sullivan that students at Harvard arrive there entirely innocent of the most rudimentary understanding of Constitutional democracy or US government and law.

PLEASE, teachers nationwide, forget about standardized testing for a minute and spend some time teaching students the rights and responsibilities of US citizens, the basics of Constitutional law, and the nature of our adversarial system of justice. I'm appalled by the comments here that advocate ignoring the presumption of innocence and the right of an accused to a vigorous defense.
