Firhouse Educate Together National School has an acute shortage of Special Education Teachers and SNAs. The learning outcomes of all children in the school are suffering.

We favour inclusion - but firmly believe meaningful supports need to be put in place - the Right Inclusion Model for Every Child.

The Department of Education and NCSE are proposing a Full Inclusion Model which will impact further, without proper supports.

We are calling for :

1. Special Education / SNA resources to be allocated based on children with needs, not a General Allocation Model

2. Other schools in the D16 and D24 areas to open special classes, to offer choice to families, and alleviate the over subscription to one school
