Ohio seniors deserve a traditional commencement.
Ohio seniors deserve a traditional commencement.
Why this petition matters
Seniors across the state and the country have worked very hard to graduate. This year their school year was interrupted by COVID19. They didn't get to say goodbye to classmates and or teachers. They aren't going to have a prom or commencement ceremony. These kids have missed out on a lot this year that they will never get a chance to relive. I feel there is another way to handle this. These kids should get the chance to walk up and receive their diploma. Most schools have outdoor football stadiums. These are a great place to hold commencement. They are outdoors and have plenty of room for social distancing. The ceremony can be open to only those family members living in the house with the graduating senior. This would be Mother Father and sibling. The family can be seated in the stands and set apart from other families 6 feet apart while the students are located on the field with plenty of space between each other. Anyone that will attend must wear a mask. These kids deserve this and have lost enough this year. Please sign this so we can make our voices heard.
