I would like to change the NBA draft system to a system based on standings, just like every other major sport in north america. Having the Lottery just allows teams to achieve greatness by luck, not by draft. There is a clear air of rigging the drafts in the NBA, and changing it to a Standings based system would change that. The NBA also does their “lottery” hours beforehand, which allows them to rig the lottery for outcomes that they will perceive to be profitable. Sports isn’t about profit, it’s about the game, and having the draft like this will only cause problems. The idea behind a lottery draft is to prevent tanking, yet that still happens in the NBA. The 76ers did it for YEARS, and in the 2018/19 season, the #TankForZion was used by many teams and their supporters. It is a flawed system that cheats teams out of the players they deserve to get back into the playoffs and championship contention.
