Why this petition matters

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Nelson Mandela

We need to stop racism.

It is our responsibility to look out for and help prevent further suffering and discrimination within our society, and recent events have put into light the fact that we have not been taught enough about Black History.

We demand that we learn more about the history of our black friends, peers and teachers, because through education we can reach equality! This is vital in order to prevent the ongoing suffering that black people in our society have been through and to put an end to racism once and for all!

Through the reform of education - in the generations to come - hopefully with a greater understanding of discrimination, racism and slavery we will be at least one step closer to reaching a more united society. Black History should not be an option that your teachers make for you by choosing a certain exam board, it should be a requirement!

This is about saving lives and stopping discrimination.

My peers and I call for you to try to raise awareness through signing this petition to reform our younger sibling’s History Specification- we call to our Government to stop the racism that is taking away our neighbour's lives!!

Education is where change can begin, with your help we can try to prevent racism having a future in the next generations to come. We call for you - UK Government - to take a lead on educating the youth in Black History for a more equal society!
