Residents, renters, and visitors to Seascape and Miramar Beach please join together to ask the Walton County Commissioners to do the right thing and preserve Seascape’s Greenspace.

Seascape is one of South Walton’s oldest communities and people have owned and vacationed here for over 4 decades starting in the mid-1970s.

One of Seascape’s oldest neighborhoods, the quiet, wooded area known as ‘Golden Pond’, could get walloped by a new proposal from Seascape’s developer, Seascape Resorts, Inc. (SRI).

SRI has proposed removing a small parcel of land from the Seascape Master Plan and building a new 125-room hotel (or other large commercial structure) on it with frontage onto Highway 98 just east of Holiday Rd.

Not only will such a commercial property potentially harm the Golden Pond neighborhood and impact Golden Pond property values, a hotel of this size will add to congestion and traffic along Highway 98 that has not been properly planned for.

Crucially, by taking the parcel out of the Seascape Master Plan, the Developer would be able to build more commercial property without affecting the existing 176,000 sq ft ceiling on commercial space that has been in place for Seascape since 1983. That’s potentially a nearly 30% increase in commercial density on the property and yet more commercial development along 98. This will affect not just Seascape owners, but everyone in Miramar Beach.

Please join in asking the Walton County Commissioners to preserve Seascape’s greenspace and to reject the Developer’s proposal to amend the Seascape DRI (Development of Regional Impact) to remove ‘Parcel N’ from the Master Plan.
