High risk groups need protection from Covid. Low risk groups don't. So don't adopt a blanket approach that is wrecking our economy, destroying our public finances, creating massive unemployment and is likely to kill far more people than it protects by keeping cancer patients and those with serious non-Covid conditions locked up and creating deprivation on a huge scale. The vast majority of ordinary, healthy people won't get seriously ill if they are exposed to the virus. And so they won't clog up the hospitals if they get ill. But they will build immunity in the population faster than a vaccine can be developed. That is likely to be the quickest way we can remove the threat the virus poses to high risk groups. All lockdown and social distancing restrictions should be lifted for those at low risk immediately except those living in the same household as a high risk person. Let people who are not at risk get back to work to keep the lights on. The lockdown is the most needlessly catastrophic policy decision ever taken by a UK government.
