Why this petition matters

Started by Patrick Owen

The 2016 EU referendum vote was influenced by false information from vested interests and funded by dark money.  Many voters who should have been able to vote were prevented from doing so.  The result was therefore flawed and carried on a narrow 52% leave majority (it overturned the 1975 referendum vote with a 67% remain majority).

The wishes of the voters of Scotland and Northern Ireland who voted to remain, the 6 million who signed a petition for another vote and the millions who marched on three separate occasions for one, have been ignored by Parliament.

It refused to allow another referendum vote. The 12 December general election therefore became the only means by which the public could vote on the most important decision affecting the UK for generations.

The election results revealed that only 45% of voters voted for parties committed to 'Brexit'.  54% of voters voted for parties committed to holding another referendum.

There is therefore a clear mandate for another referendum on this important issue,

We the undersigned therefore urge the government to respect the wishes of the electorate and allow it to decide, either to approve Boris Johnson's Withdrawal Agreement agreement or to reject it and allow the UK to remain a member of the EU.
