Safe Routes to School (City of Bayswater)
Safe Routes to School (City of Bayswater)
Why this petition matters
We, the undersigned, commend the City of Bayswater Council for recently deciding to look into ways to improve the main walking and bike routes to local schools.
Upgrades to selected crossings and routes would allow more of our kids to walk and cycle to school, and reduce the amount of traffic at drop-off and pick-up times.
As local residents, we strongly support the development of a long-term Safe Routes to School plan, which would progressively:
“better connect all the schools in the City with their surrounding school catchments, by improving conditions and facilities for pedestrians and bikes along major access routes (including through new path connections, pedestrian-priority street crossings, speed limits and traffic signage)”.
We understand that the proposal will be further considered by Council in February 2020.
When you sign the petition, please feel free to add a comment about your own experience of walking/cycling to school or a specific issue (e.g. a bad crossing) on the way to your kids' school.
