Why this petition matters

Started by Northern Beaches Resident

In the Sydney Morning Herald (9 October 2020) it was revealed that the iconic Australian Manly Ferries are going to be a thing of the past starting from as early as 2021. https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/transport-minister-calls-time-on-sydney-s-iconic-manly-ferries-20201009-p563ph.html

Sadly, like most iconic Australian inventions, brands, resources and industries we seem to prefer to get rid of them or sell them off (sometimes we even buy them back).

There are so many reasons to sign this petition to let the Minister for Transport know that you want the Manly Ferries to stay!

A short list of reasons why we should keep our Manly Ferries:

  • They are a part of our history
  • They are iconic
  • They are a tourist attraction
  • They enable people and families to get to the city via Circular Quay and back home again or vice versa
  • They were built to last (and I dare say longer than any flashy inferior replacement)
  • All fleets need maintenance
  • Manly isn't Manly without these ferries
  • The Emerald class is inferior and unable to deliver what the Freshwater class has for approx 40 years
  • Plus all your own reasons

Please protect this iconic fleet by signing this petition and sharing it.
