Jeremy Tomlinson, the CEO of England Golf, should immediately resign as he has proved unable to competently represent English golfers and golf venues during the Covid 19 pandemic.

Golf unions across the world have managed to successfully present the evidence that outside of extreme circumstances there are net overall benefits to keeping courses open through the pandemic. Across Europe only Ireland has seen their courses closed for a longer period of time than England. This is despite England Golf being one of the best funded and largest golf unions globally

Furthermore, the success of the Angling Trust in making many of the same arguments and forcing a U turn goes to show this is a failure of effective lobbying on our behalf rather than an outright refusal of government to listen.
Jeremy and England Golf have repeatedly failed to consolidate scientific evidence (including submissions from Professor Charlie Foster, the principal advisor on physical activity for health to the four United Kingdom chief medical officers), vocal support from our professional golfers, and the inherent influence of the golfing community into a meaningful campaign and have instead relied on a scattergun approach of weakly worded token statements.

There is a realistic possibility of further restrictions being imposed this winter and we cannot allow this approach of sitting on our hands to continue
