In the Covid-19 pandemic Australia has performed vastly better than Canada, the US, the UK and Western Europe as illustrated by the following "Covid-19 deaths per million of population" values: 0.1 (Kerala, India), 0.3 (Taiwan),  0.5 (Hong Kong),  3 (China),   4 (New Zealand), 4 (AUSTRALIA), 4 (Singapore),  5 (South Korea) and 6 (Japan) VERSUS 157 (Canada), 174 (Luxembourg), 219 (Switzerland), 283 (US), 317 (Ireland), 334 (Netherlands), 371 (Sweden), 429 (France), 521 (UK), 532 (Italy), 594 (Spain), and 786 (Belgium) (as of 22 May 2020). Thus by 22 May 2020 there were only 100 Covid-19 deaths in Australia (population 25 million) as compared to a shocking and distressing 35,000 such deaths in the UK (population 67  million).

A major reason that Australia did so well in the Covid-19 emergency is that the Coalition Government adopted the no-brainer of following the scientific advice of medical experts. In stark contrast, in relation to a worsening Climate Emergency that existentially threatens Humanity and the Biosphere,  the Australian Coalition Government and major parts of the Mainstream media variously still reject (or otherwise effectively  ignore through inaction) the expert advice of a huge body of scientists world-wide who overwhelmingly demand urgent action. 

The brilliant scientist Professor Stephen Hawking has succinctly stated the present dilemma of a growth-obsessed world existentially threatened by nuclear weapons and man-made climate change (2018): “We see great peril if governments and societies do not take action now to render nuclear weapons obsolete and to prevent further climate change”.
