Family Man 2 is a web series which is set to release on Amazon Prime Video on June 4th, 2021. This petition aims to stop its release due to the misrepresentation of Tamils that it depicts. Samantha Akkineni's role dehumanizes the Tamil struggle by equating the Tamil liberation movement to terrorism. The Tamil people are still seeking justice for the atrocities committed in Sri Lanka and to release the trailer for this web series on May 18 – an international day of mourning for Tamils – is utterly disrespectful.

Capitalizing off the trauma stories of an oppressed group of people is intolerable. The trauma stories of Tamils should NOT be used as an accessory for entertainment purposes, and that too by non-Tamils with no respect or knowledge of the Tamil genocide. In addition to this, Samantha Akkineni, a light skinned actress, has used brownface to portray herself as a darker skinned Tamil woman. This is absolutely unacceptable, and for these reasons the international community calls on Amazon Prime Video to stop the release of Family Man 2.

If Family Man 2 is released, the signees of this petition will be cancelling our Amazon Prime Video subscriptions, and we will no longer be supporting Samantha Akkineni's work or the work of anyone involved in this web series.
