Immediate suspension of individuals implicated in the BDO report on mismanagement at USP
Immediate suspension of individuals implicated in the BDO report on mismanagement at USP
Why this petition matters
The University of the South Pacific (USP) is a leading institution that covers the South Pacific and has been the premier source of tertiary education with graduates making an impact all over the world.
Last year, the VC (Professor Pal Ahluwalia) has made some allegations about a group of individuals who had a record of mismanagement at USP over the years during the leadership of previous VC, Prof. Rajesh Chandra. This lead to an audit and investigation by an Auckland firm known as BDO who compiled a report over 100 pages that was leaked online.
The individuals exposed in the report with serious mismanagement issues are still holding onto key positions at USP and continue to become a problem for the safe running of the university. The report shows that several individuals were holding only positions with a pay range of over 300 - 400K salary for positions that were never advertised but handed out by previous leadership.
The report is available online: https://www.scribd.com/document/465914749/Bdo-Report-PDF
We call for the immediate suspension of the individuals who are holding current positions at USP and further investigation about the matter. The people involved should return all the funds given which they did not deserve as part of their salary scale.
