Bring Back the London Hot Air Balloon Festival!
Bring Back the London Hot Air Balloon Festival!
Why this petition matters
Growing up, London Ontario's Hot Air Balloon Festival (sponsored by Sundance Balloons) was an event that brought our community together. The festival, which was held for the first time in 1984 and originally called the London Balloon Fiesta, used to take place in Harris Park at the forks of the Thames River during Simcoe Day (first Monday in August) weekend.
Before COVID-19, thousands of people would attend this festival which also featured an amusement park, concerts, and a night glow.
Even though we may still be in lockdown this summer of 2021, seeing the special-shaped balloons, including the Canadian Flag, Maple Leaf, and Tyrone the T-Rex flying across the sky, I believe would bring our community closer together. It may not be a concert or a huge festival where we can all be together, but it gives London a reason to look forward to the future from a distance.
Times are tough right now and since we all can't be together, seeing your balloons from our own backyards will give us something to root for!
WE BELIEVE this will make a difference in the community of London whether it's to:
⚬ Giving the community something to look forward to
⚬ Keeping a positive mindset during the COVID-19 pandemic
⚬ Bringing joy to children and people of all ages
It is the little things that count.
PLEASE sign this petition if you hope to bring back these wonderful hot air balloons flying across London's sky soon!
To Sundance Balloons and The City of London, we hope you hear us!
