Why this petition matters

Homosexual acts between men are penalized under Guyanese law, even if they are between adults, by mutual consent and within the private sphere. The small country of northern South America is the only territory of all the continental Americas to prohibit male homosexuality. Fortunately, women do not suffer the same fate, because the Criminal Law Act of Guyana establishes prison sentences for men only (sodomy) between articles 352 and 355. The solution would be to repeal the laws that go against the principle of the freedom to love between two adult men, sending our petition to the government authorities of Guyana.

It's not possible that in the continent of the liberties and opportunities, in a sovereign and democratic republic, there are still these laws that were created centuries ago and do not go hand in hand with our times. Help us protect sexual minorities in the Americas!
