The National Trust for Scotland (the NTS) are taking drastic actions in the wake of COVID-19 precautions which have affected everyone in the nation.  I am concerned that at a time, when the people of the country most want and need access to the beautiful and historic heritage on our doorstep, for the goals of education, and leisure, given that foreign holidays are not accessible for most, the NTS is closing properties. 

Instead of contributing to easing the stress of the pandemic, repairing the lack of education and leisure access, and continuing the great conservation work that has been put on hold during the Covid-19 precautions, the actions of the NTS will further deprive local communities having a knock effect for years to come. 

We recognise that the Covid crisis has economically impacted everyone, but the Trust should explore all other options before adding to the redundancy figures and adding further misery by closing facilities.   This petition asks all members of the Trust to influence a better outcome and petitions the Board and Executive of  National Trust for Scotland itself to revise their near term strategy and open all properties.
