Why this petition matters

Started by Karlyn Clark

State Highway 410 is a 107.44-mile long state Highway that traverses Pierce, King, and Yakima-counties in Washington. SR 410 is a two lane road that enters the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and heads into Mt. Rainier National Park. Along this route motorists encounter very long stretches of roadway with zero access to restroom facilities. Local small towns have had to provide bathrooms to patrons for many years; however, the major increase in motorists and tourists has created an increasing need for a rest area facility along SR 410. The wear and tear on the local small towns is becoming too much.  Without a public restroom facility people are stopping and using the bathroom wherever they please without the proper burial or disposal of human waste - including in people’s private yards. It’s time the local state steps in and provides a public facility to help protect our environment as well as our small rural towns.
