Why this petition matters

Started by Mussarat Yousaf

Pakistan is known as one of the world’s most religiously intolerant countries. Freedom of religion is loosely legislated and religious minorities, such as Hindus, regularly suffer discrimination and violence. In last year 265 cases of forced conversion were exposed, mostly involving Hindu girls. Unfortunately, Moreover 3000 applications for migration are pending approval with the Indian embassy. Hindus are preferring to leave this country due to this discrimination and violence. Being an Islamic country this act is completely against the teachings of Islam, as stated in the Quran that “there is no compulsion in religion” (2:256). Even in the flag of Pakistan white portion of the flag  shows the integral presence of minorities in Pakistan and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah said in his address to the first constituent assembly of Pakistan on 11th August 1947

“You are free; you are free to go to your temples; free to go to your mosques or to any other places of worship in the State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or caste or creed that has nothing to do with the business of the state”

Today, what is happening in Pakistan? We are totally negating teachings of Islamic human rights and our Quaid’s message of Unity, Faith, and Discipline and are divided into different sections based on religion, language, caste, and breed. We have even come to a point where sometimes we do not even feel proud to be Pakistanis.

BY signing this petition you stand with the discriminated and suppressed minorities of Pakistan for the sake of the true spirit of Islam. The government must take action against such rights violations and bring all parties involved in the abduction and conversion of these girls to justice. Police religious leaders and community members must be accountable for their actions and negligence.
