Petition to increase funding for the 19th Precinct

The 19th Precinct covers the entire Upper East Side from 59th Street to 96th Street. There are approximately 200,000 residents in this area and only 185 police officers. The precinct has less than 1 officer per 1000 residents which is far below New York State and national average for this size community. We, the undersigned, call on the NYC Police Department, elected officials, office of Management and Budget, and the Mayor of New York City to increase funding for the 19th Precinct.  Increased funding is intended to put more officers on the street and bring the contingent up to what is an acceptable number of officers to adequately maintain public safety.
