Why this petition matters

Started by Tamar Nigogossian

Ardmore Construction have been told that this tree needs to be felled as it is not viable for long term retention. They are planning on following through on this advice and taking down our beautiful horse chestnut.

We think the grounds might be spurious and have more to do with saving money than with any genuine concern for this tree being beyond saving.

We are asking that no felling take place until a second independent survey is conducted to establish the viability of this tree. Haringey we are asking you to step in and make sure appropriate surveys are done and that all measures to save the tree are being taken.  Felling has to be the last option, when the tree is genuinely beyond salvage and a risk.

We want Ardmore to do everything in their power to leave this beauty standing for as long as it's possible.  It is a huge old tree and is habitat for countless others species and sequesters more CO2 than any replacement will for the next 50-100 years.  We are in a climate and ecological emergency,  we're can't afford to lose trees like this.

We have only just found out about this and as such the information here may change as we discover more. But if you care for our green spaces please sign.
