We, the undersigned, petition the County Council to undertake a feasibility study to investigate the practicability of constructing a new road bridge over the River Lune at Lancaster to relieve traffic congestion in the city and HGV traffic to the Lune Industrial Estate.

Lancaster Vision, a sub group of Lancaster Civic Society, has been inundated by positive responses since raising the issue of the need for a new bridge over the River Lune.

Following extensive media coverage, we have received an overwhelming number of comments, with the vast majority - 85% - supporting the idea.

Positive responses have been submitted by large numbers of individuals, councillors and candidates in the local elections.

Lancaster Vision thinks that this level of public support would warrant Lancashire County Council undertaking a feasibility study to investigate the practicability of the project and call upon them to do so.
