Over a year into this pandemic and our approach to dealing with it has not changed.  Early treatment options used world wide have been shown to keep people out of the hospital and reduce deaths. When Albertans test positive they are basically told to isolate at home and present at the hospital only if they get very sick with no early treatment options offered.  In some other countries people testing positive are sent home with potentially life-saving treatments.

Reduced hospital admissions would allow the Alberta economy to open back up.

One very safe early treatment option that has been shown in clinical trials to be very effective is ivermectin.   While large governing bodies are asking for more clinical trials we don't have time to wait during this pandemic.  This very safe and effective drug, that can potentially save many lives, must be made available to Albertans.

Ivermectin is already approved in Canada for anti-parasitic use and is now generic and inexpensive. However currently Albertans do not have access to ivermectin even with a doctor's prescription.  

We the undersigned ask our Alberta government to take the steps necessary to make early treatment options for covid-19, including ivermectin, available to Albertans immediately.
