The UCP government’s decision to de-fund anti-racism grants in Alberta, notably the Human Rights Education and Multiculturalism Fund, is incredibly disappointing. This work is needed now more than ever.

I have been deeply saddened by the police violence across America and in Toronto and would be remiss to believe the racist attitudes that perpetuate violence do not exist here in Alberta. Anti-racism education is a vital key in combating racism in our communities. 

As a concerned Albertan, I call on Jason Kenney and the United Conservative Party to re-fund the Human Rights Education and Multiculturalism Fund and support other anti-racism, human rights education initiatives in this province.
