NHS Hospital Trusts are able to destroy your medical notes after 8yrs of no contact with them. They do not have to tell you. They do not have to make a digital copy or send a copy to be archived. Medical notes are legal documents and as such should be kept for years after death. You will have no evidence if this practice continues. I want to see a law that prohibits NHS Hospitals being able to destroy medical notes after 8yrs just because it is their policy. This is wrong and a national scandal.
