A call for the RESTORATION of the Roseau Public Library and preservation of our limited Roseau green space! (Dominica)

The two fires at the Roseau Public Library in August 2020 draw further attention to the urgent need for the rehabilitation and preservation of our country's historic buildings, of which the library is one of the most important. The library's current skeletal structure has become even more vulnerable to both man-made and natural degradation since the damage incurred by Hurricane Maria in September 2017.

If you would like to see this historic building that holds a special place in the hearts of many of us Dominicans preserved, please sign this appeal for the preservation and restoration of this beautiful building AND its green space.

The future of the site is currently undecided although there have been talks of demolition to make space for a new structure. It is recognized by SHAPE that the Roseau public library has become too small for 21st century demands, but it is our hope that a new site will be selected so the old site can be preserved.
