Why this petition matters

Started by CTUIR Community

We, the undersigned members of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (“CTUIR”), individuals residing on the Umatilla Indian Reservation, and members of other federally and state recognized Tribes, petition the Board of Trustees of the CTUIR to remove UTPD Detective Anthony Barnett from his position and terminate his employment with the CTUIR. The basis for this petition is a belief that Det. Barnett presents a threat to the well-being of members of the community.

Background:

Detective Anthony Barnett had his DPSST certification revoked in 2014 for misconduct (ie. sexual harassment, inappropriate behavior, etc), during that time he was able to gain employment with the CTUIR. Det. Anthony Barnett had his DPSST certification reinstated in 2018 and has been working for the Department of Children & Family Services, and the UTPD. In 2020, Det. Barnett’s employment was terminated after another allegation of inappropriate behavior was lodged against him. After a lengthy litigation process Det. Anthony Barnett's employment was reinstated and is still working on the Umatilla Indian Reservation, in UTPD with access to DCFS.

This is all court documented & public record.
