The year 2020 brings about catastrophic affects on workers' life all around the globe. The pandemic exposes & reminds us the importance of the frontliner workers in keeping the community safe & healthy. But most of us have not been paying attention towards the 'forgotten frontliners'; cleaners, security guards, eg: support services workers especially in governmental buildings such as hospitals and schools.

They are being left out from the government's definition of frontliners & as such, did not and will not receive benefits related to the 'frontliner' label such as hazard pay, and add to the fact that they have been on the receiving end of the oppressive employers & corrupt conctractors for years now. Inadequate supply of face masks, gloves, and PPEs from the contractors are rampant among various other malpractices such as illegal paycuts, stealing workers' SOCSO/EPF contributions, & union bustings.

Thus, backed by our research & support from these workers, we demand the Goverment of Malaysia to:

1. Absorb all contractual support services workers in governmental buildings like cleaners,  security guards, and gardeners as permanent employees of the public sectors,

2. Abolish the deeply imbedded cronyism within the contractual system, and to abolish the need for parasitic middlemen.

3. Reduce leakages of public funds that belongs to fund the benefits & welfare of the workers, and to improve the governance & competency of relevant authorities in caring for the welfare
of these workers.

Tahun 2020 membawa satu impak besar dalam kehidupan pekerja di seluruh dunia, ia membuka mata kita tentang kepentingan pekerja barisan hadapan (frontliner) di masa wabak COVID-19 ini. Tetapi, ramai juga lupa bahawa pekerja pembersihan dan pengawal keselamatan di hospital, sekolah dan lain-lain premis Kerajaan Persekutuan Malaysia juga merupakan pekerja frontliner dan mereka sudah dilupa oleh Kerajaan Persekutuan Malaysia sehingga tidak diiktiraf pengorbanan mereka.

Kami mendesak Kerajaan Persekutuan Malaysia untuk:

1) Serap pekerja-pekerja kontrak di premis Kerajaan seperti pekerja pembersihan, pengawal keselamatan dan pekerja sebagai pekerja tetap di Kerajaan,
 
2) Hapuskan kronisma dan orang tengah (kontraktor),

3) Kurangkan pembaziran dan cekapkan pentadbiran.
