To the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau Prime Minister of Canada.

Dear Prime Minister,

We are immigration applicants who have been approved for permanent residence but not landed in Canada yet.

Confirmations of permanent residence (CoPR) have been issued by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), and based on that we have started many crucial actions in our lives to prepare for the last step which is to land in Canada, we have resigned from our jobs, stopped our children’s education, canceled our social security plans, sold out our homes…, that means we have terminated all our commitments in our native countries as we have received our confirmation of permanent residence document from IRCC. 

Now, due to the current situation related to the COVID-19 outbreak, we are not able to complete the last step which is traveling to Canada before the expiry date of our documents (Confirmation of permanent residence) since all our flights have been canceled and no more ones are planned in many countries toward Canada, and we don't know when these restrictions will be finished. We feel like we are in the middle of nowhere since many CoPR holders have their documents already expired and some are near to expire.

In this regard, we want to raise our voice to you and we kindly like to request your help and support for the below points to unblock the current situation we are living:

- Extend all expired confirmation of permanent residence documents (CoPR and visa) during this period of travel restrictions due to the outbreak, instead of reopening and reassessing our initial applications as stated by IRCC, which might have a serious outcome to the final decision since many actions have already been done from our side to prepare for our new life in Canada which we consider our new home and any step back cannot be possible.

- Plan new exceptional flights because some applicants can’t afford to stay longer in their countries since they have already resigned from their jobs as stated before and they are using their funds which should be used during the first months in Canada time we find a job.

We are eager to start our new life in Canada but we don't want our applications to be reassessed and impacted by more processing time due to a global outbreak.
