Government must tell people to stay local to avoid destroying our beaches and beauty spots
Why this petition matters
Over the last weekend of May, and in some cases for the two weeks previously, numerous coastal areas and beauty spots were inundated with "tourists". They caused fires with portable barbecues, left large quantities of litter, urinated and defecated on beaches and paid no heed to social distancing. Some were found to be illegally camping overnight - the only thing that the police could fine them for. Numerous photos (including some from police authorities) prove this. Local council employees and staff employed by private landowners have been assaulted and spat at when trying to bring some sort of order. Resources in rural areas are stretched in the case of emergency as in case of the "tombstoneing" incident at Durdle Beach in Dorset. The Government must change their position and ensure that people only travel locally. I am sure 30 miles from their residence would not be unreasonable. see below:
