We, the undersigned, call on Rokhsana Fiaz – Mayor of Newham, to  take urgent action to keep our residents safe during the coronavirus crisis.

We call on her to reverse the £45 million worth of cuts in the current council budget and to withdraw the council tax increase and proposal for first car permit payments. At a time of dire economic hardship for many the council should not increasing the burden.

In addition we call on her to work with local trade unions and community groups to organise an emergency plan to provide vital support to all those who are suffering the consequences of the virus, spending what is necessary from the councils £500 million+ reserves to do so.
